Daly, 54, told the Golf Channel he withdrew from last month’s Charles Schwab Series in Missouri after dealing with kidney stones and back pain. But a visit to the doctor showed it was more than kidney stones ailing Daly.“ it doesn’t look like any stones are in there. But unfortunately, you have bladder cancer,” Daly told the Golf Channel. “After I did the CT I was fixing to sip on my Diet Coke and he said, ‘Don’t drink anything. We have to get you back in here and get this cancer out of you.’"The two-time major winner said he underwent a procedure to remove the cancer, which was successful. However, he asserted a need to stay vigilant, noting his cancer has an 85 percent chance of recurrence. “So I’ve got to go back and see him in three months. They will probably have to cut it out again," Daly said. "It’s probably going to come back, and then another three months that you don’t know. You just don’t know. Luckily for me they caught it early, but bladder cancer is something that I don’t know all the details. But it doesn’t look like it may go away. We will just see what happens. Maybe there’s a miracle." via Golf Digest

It feels like every time we say "2020 can't get any worse, right?" Well, we have our answer here. Long John Daly, the original grip-and-rip, long ball hitter, has been beloved by the fans since his arrival on tour in the early 1990s. He's had his ups, his downs, and his all arounds, but the common man from Arkansas was the American golfing dream: growing up playing on an old muni, not having swing lessons growing up, and just going all out to win tournaments.

And yes, we know that John has has his demons. The drinking, the gambling, you name it, John Daly did it! But that is why the fans loved him even more: he was incredibly open with his vices. Everyone always love an athlete that has his faults, and John had them.

And unfortunately for John, this diagnosis is serious. Bladder cancer is no joke, and some of the soundbites from John shows he knows it. But on the other side, he still remains optimistic, saying he's going to live his life. Let's all hope that the former 2 time Major champion winner can pull through!
