Brittany Lincicome shoots 1-under on Friday at the Barbasol, misses the cut. Why that is ok.

(Article vi BBC Sport ) American Brittany Lincicome fell short in her bid to become the second woman to make the cut in a men's event at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky. The two-time major champion, 32, finished 36 holes at five over par, on 149, to miss the cut by nine shots. The world number 30, playing on a sponsor's exemption, is only the sixth woman to start a PGA event. Only one woman has made the 36-hole cut in a men's event - Babe Zaharias in 1945. Call me a sucker, but I really enjoy when LPGA players really challenge themselves and come up to play with the boys on the PGA Tour. Even though I described Barbasol Championship as a glorified Web.com event (a take which I stand by), Brittany Lincicome was able to come up to the PGA Tour and give it a great effort. I mean, yes she had a bad first day, but she was able to rebound on Friday and shoot under par. That is a pretty great accomplishment from someone who is used to playing from tees at least 50 yards up. Not only did she gain some new fans, the Barbasol Championship also got some great press. In an event where most people would not have tuned in, watching an LPGA player try to cut it will bring in the views. And it gave Brittany a pretty great memory on the First Tee. https://twitter.com/PGATOUR/status/1019959675574349824 Now I am not saying that LPGA players should try and play in every tournament: let's face it, only 1 ever made the cut, and that was in 1945. However, I would absolutely love to see players like Lexi Thompson try to come up and give it a go against some PGA pros. Who knows, maybe a current LPGA player could become the next Babe Zaharias and make a PGA cut!
